SHAKESPEARE (EL1-B)

COURSE OVERVIEW

A one-semester course studying three plays by William Shakespeare.  Weeks 1-6: Hamlet with CliffsComplete. Weeks 7-11: Macbeth with CliffsComplete.  Weeks 12-16: The Taming of the Shrew with CliffsComplete.  This course relies heavily on the literary analysis skills and tools studied in the prerequisite American Literature (AL1-B) course.
This course is typically scheduled for the second semester of the European Studies cycle.  Juniors in the Roman Studies cycle are encouraged to consider studying Shakespeare instead of one of the optional second-semester courses (NWT-B, RH2-A, RL2-A, or AA1-A).
The course plan for this course can be found in the following STAA Study Guides:  Semester 2: European Studies II, A Track; Semester 2: European Studies II, B Track; Semester 2: Roman Studies II, A Track; and the STAA Study Guide: Shakespeare single-subject booklet.
