Collection: Introductory Physics I and II Booklist

Introductory Physics I and II provides students in grades 7–10 with a comprehensive foundation in scientific thinking and physical science concepts, replacing the previous Exploring Creation with Physical Science course. This innovative two-semester course is a good fit for students who are presently in Saxon Algebra 1/2 or any Algebra 1 or beyond, using the proven "try first, then check" methodology to develop essential academic skills including effective self-study, close reading, strategic note-taking, and creating meaningful review tools.
In the first semester, the course progresses from earth science foundations in the first quarter—covering Earth's structure, atmosphere, weather, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and geological processes—to physics concepts in the second quarter, including motion, forces, energy, momentum, and atomic structure. The curriculum draws from a thoughtfully selected collection of textbooks: Super Simple Physics for visual learning, Painless Earth Science for earth science, Basic Physics: A Self-Teaching Guide for physics applications, and Janice VanCleave's Big Book of Science Experiments for hands-on discovery. Through weekly quizzes, discussions, and quarterly exams, this course builds both scientific knowledge and transferable learning skills that prepare students for advanced science courses and lifelong academic success.
***The spiral-bound, printed STAA Study Guide will be available to order on 8/15/2025; students can access the online version of IP1-B on the Student Zone while waiting for their study guide to arrive.***
