COURSE OVERVIEW
Math U See Algebra 1, a two-semester course. Topics covered are mastery of basic properties, solving equations (including simultaneous equations), coin problems, exponents and square roots, scientific notation, unit multipliers, and metric conversions. Graphing lines is taught in detail, and graphing conic sections is introduced. Polynomial operations are also taught.
We continue aggressively developing the necessary Math Study Skills for Algebra and upper division math mastery: neat-and-complete Show-Your-Work paper, doing problems out of order (easiest ones first, circling back around to the tougher ones and then back to the toughest ones), using as much or as little scratch/work space as needed per problem (no pre-preparing your scratch/work paper), getting into the solution manuals (seeing where you zigged when your instructor zagged), etc.
