STAA STUDY GUIDES AND BOOKLETS
The STAA Study Guides and single-subject booklets are printed on-demand (custom printed) when you place your order and are not returnable. Please use the contact form on our website to report any issues with the quality of the printing, binding, packaging, or shipping of your guides.
LIVE CLASS CANCELLATION
The course registration fees paid through this online shop are for the live classes with or without advisor-grading services. The course registration fees are separate from the enrollment fees for the St. Thomas Aquinas Academy homeschool program (assessment evaluation, academic planning, optional transcript service, advisor counseling, etc.).
Course registration fees are not prorated. Should your schooling situation change, a refund of fees is available until the beginning of the semester (Week B, Day 1). A $50.00 per course cancellation fee and any credit card processing fees (typically about 3%; slightly more for currency conversions) will be deducted from the refund. Written refund requests must be received by mail or email before the first orientation meeting of the semester if your schooling situation changes and your student is unable to continue with the course. The first orientation meeting for each course is called a "Book Check" meeting and takes place on Day 2 or 3 of Week B of the Academic Calendar.
In your message or letter to cancel your student's live class registration, please include the following:
- Full name and contact information of the parent submitting the cancellation
- Full name of the student and the classes he or she is withdrawing from
- Reason for cancellation
- Date the cancellation request was submitted
- If the cancellation request is submitted before the first orientation meeting of the class (or classes), please indicate if you would prefer all available refunds to be returned to you or if you would like to donate the registration fees to another student (STAA will then use the fees as a needs-based scholarship in your name for another student enrolled in the St. Thomas Aquinas Academy homeschool program; include a note if you would prefer to be an anonymous donor).
COURSEWORK AND ATTENDANCE POLICY
No discounts, credits, or refunds are provided for missed, skipped, or forgotten assignments or class meetings. As a homeschooling program, students may submit late assignments or discussions to their teaching-parents for grading, and parents may adjust the final grade in the official semester gradebook accordingly. A clearly defined schedule helps ensure your student thrives with structure, consistency, and a strong finish to the semester.
All coursework is to be completed by the due dates listed on the course webpage on the STAA Student Zone. Some important assignments allow a seven-day or three-day late/emergency submission window—see specific assignments on the STAA Student Zone course webpage for the details. In general, the informal live class preparatory meetings are due the day before each meeting and the formal written assignments are due by 11:59 P.M. on Fridays (but may be submitted on Saturday). Coursework may always be submitted earlier than the due date and will be graded after the due date passes.
In addition to guidance provided in the live class meetings, there are several printed and online resources to communicate coursework due dates to students. First, see the STAA Study Guide for the due date for each activity and assignment. The STAA Student Zone also lists the specific due dates on the course webpages, lists all assignment due dates on a "timeline" overview page that is personalized for each student, and features a helpful calendar with clickable links on every site page. Parents may view much of this information by signing into the STAA Student Zone and using the “My Students” feature. The best way to stay in touch with the student's coursework schedule is to visit the STAA Student Zone together at least once a week with the student logged into his or her account and the STAA Study Guide in hand.
